Senior Scientific Project Manager to Successful Biotech Company

Do you want a key role in shaping the future of Gubra’s expanding drug discovery pipeline?

If your background includes a PhD in the life sciences and 5+ years of industry experience as a drug discovery Project Manager, we have an offer we hope you’ll find just as compelling as we do.

At Gubra, we have experienced continuous success and growth since our founding in 2008. Now we are ready for the next major leap forward. We are establishing our biotech operations as an independent business unit with an ambitious growth strategy focused on pipeline expansion. That calls for top-class scientific project management — and that’s why we need you.

Drive drug discovery projects across coordination and scientific assessments

In this role, you will apply your biological expertise, your understanding of drug discovery workflows, and your experience managing complex R&D projects. Your primary focus will be driving internal and partnered drug discovery programs from early discovery through candidate selection. In parallel, you will contribute to strengthening and optimizing our project management framework.

Our drug discovery projects typically run for 12–18 months and are driven by a core team of Lead Scientists, supplemented by specialists as needed. Our approach is grounded in deep peptide expertise and integrates cutting-edge AI/ML discovery with a broad suite of validated, translational in vivo models that enable rapid, data-driven decision-making.

As Project Manager, you are the one ensuring forward momentum — including scientific assessment of results. You drive scientific and strategic alignment and secure a clear competitive edge. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading and executing drug discovery and early innovation peptide projects from hit identification to development candidate selection
  • Critically assessing and interpreting biological data to guide target validation, early discovery efforts, and decision-making
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks, optimizing timelines, and ensuring a competitive edge
  • Communicating project updates, recommendations, and strategic considerations clearly and effectively
  • Contributing to our structured target identification efforts and to the ongoing optimization of our project management setup

PhD in life sciences and 5+ years of industry experience as Project Manager

At Gubra, you will be part of a dynamic growth organization where you thrive by bringing structure and clarity, even in areas still evolving.

Because you are responsible for keeping your projects moving forward, you bring energy and a proactive mindset. This is complemented by your pragmatic, solution-oriented management style, which enables strong collaboration with stakeholders. Your background also includes:

  • A PhD in life sciences — e.g., molecular/cell biology, pharmacology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences
  • 5+ years of industry experience as a Project Manager leading drug discovery projects
  • Strong biological expertise and experience in target validation, early discovery, and translational relevance
  • Deep understanding of drug discovery workflows, including screening, in vitro/in vivo pharmacology, and lead optimization
  • Good understanding of business development interfaces, strategic partnerships, and competitive landscapes

Your new team

You will join a growing team of four Scientific Project Managers and the Project Director. At Gubra, you will experience an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong team spirit, and a shared dedication to cross-organizational collaboration. To maintain these qualities, you must be willing to work on-site at least four days per week.

About Gubra

Gubra is an ambitious contract research organisation (CRO) and biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.

Gubra’s activities are focused on the early stages of drug development and are organised in two highly synergistic business areas: CRO Services and Discovery & Partnerships (D&P). We generate our revenue by performing research for life science companies as well as by partnering projects from our discovery and development pipeline.

Our therapeutic focus is within metabolic and fibrotic diseases, and we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, ex vivo assays, drug profiling, histology, stereology and whole brain and organ imaging. In addition, we offer a full palette of advanced transcriptomics. Our ML/AI-driven peptide drug discovery platform streaMLine enables us to rapidly develop a peptide hit into a non-clinical candidate ready for development. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.

People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of +290 employees all located in Hørsholm, Denmark. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by entrepreneurial drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
