Gubra is looking for a Research Scientist to develop and support our peptide drug discovery pipeline as well as advanced contract research assignments.
Gubra is an ambitious biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight against the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.
The Peptide Chemistry group primarily supports the Gubra drug discovery projects and is closely involved in the fine-tuning and optimization of peptide synthesis, and in ensuring that the high throughput solid phase peptide synthesis lab at Gubra is running optimally. Over the past 2 years the chemistry group at Gubra has developed immensely due to an increase in automation of manual tasks, increase in automated peptide synthesizers and not least due to a close collaboration between the Chemistry & Bioanalysis group and the Computational Biology group which has enabled Gubra to launch a platform for High Throughput Peptide synthesis and data generation called streaMLine. At Gubra the Peptide Chemistry group is also responsible for characterization of peptides and associated metabolites as well as peptide bioanalysis. The group is part of a functional area comprising also molecular pharmacology, pharmaceutical profiling, and formulation, biomarker, and next generation sequencing competences.
You have extensive hands-on experience with solid phase peptide synthesis (preferably experience with one or several brands of automated peptide synthesizers), and broad knowledge of amino acids and peptides and their properties. You are passionate about technology and like fixing things in the lab and streamlining processes. You are self-motivated and can navigate and collaborate in an energetic organization and you are ready to set ambitious high standards for the output of the group. At Gubra, we strongly believe in advancing science by continuously testing our hypotheses - not on paper but in the lab. As a scientist in our Peptide Chemistry group, you are supporting this vision by taking ownership and constantly striving for the delivery of high-quality data.
Your tasks as Research Scientist include:
Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain peptide synthesizers and HPLC equipment.
Perform peptide syntheses, purification, data analysis, and reporting of study results.
Smart-lab: working with our computational biologists and other lab technicians and scientists in and outside your group to locate repetitive work processes that can be optimized or automated.
Participate in the internal and partnered research projects by working diligently with peptide synthesis and lab optimization.
Support and coordinate experiments including collaboration with lab technicians.
PhD degree within peptide synthesis or equivalent experience with peptide synthesis and purification preferably from the drug discovery industry - or extensive experience during your MSc degree with hands-on peptide chemistry.
Experience with state-of-the art peptide synthesis and automated peptide synthesizers.
Strong experience in HPLC purification optimization.
Great executing and collaborating skills.
As person you are
Keen to take on responsibility within your area of expertise.
Curious by nature, motivated by data and not afraid of technical challenges.
Proactive and able to initiate, focus and deliver on tasks and projects.
Eager to collaborate in an energetic and rapidly changing organization.
Please apply no later than March 18, 2021 by uploading your motivated cover letter and resume on our website.
Gubra is a company with a very dynamic and fast-paced drive. We have two primary areas of business: Preclinical contract research (CRO) services, and Proprietary early target and drug discovery programs.
We are a biotech company delivering science to our partners and to our own research projects. We are active in the so-called pre-clinical space - before drugs are tested in humans - and generate a revenue by performing research for small and large pharma companies.
Our focus is within the metabolic space (obesity, diabetes, NASH, and diabetic complications), where we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, peptide chemistry, molecular pharmacology, histology, stereology, imaging, NGS (next generation sequencing), bioinformatics and assays. We work with some of the most interesting and loyal partners and customers from across the world within big pharma, biotech, and academia. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.
People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of +150 employees all located in Hørsholm, Denmark. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by intensive drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
