Machine Learning Engineer

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Software and AI Solutions department at Gubra. In this role, you will collaborate closely with data scientists and software developers to deploy, monitor, and manage machine learning models in production, ensuring robust and scalable ML pipelines.

State-of-the-art ML models in multiple domains

In this role, you will handle ML models from multiple domains. Our most established domains are biomedical image analysis and machine learning based design of pharmaceuticals. Gubra is a leader in high throughput 3D imaging, and an early adopter of digital histopathology. We have developed our own ML based drug discovery platform called streaMLine. The platform has reduced drug discovery time by 50%. Now, we are ready to apply ML to more parts of our business, and you will play a large part in that.

In addition, we are currently investigating areas where generative AI can make our processes more efficient. If interested, you could be instrumental in designing and building solutions with elements from generative AI.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Design, implement, and manage ML applications
  • Manage model versions and ensure smooth integration into production systems
  • Build and maintain automated pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, training, validation, and inference in production
  • Ensure ML models and pipelines are scalable to handle varying loads and diverse data

Proven Machine Learning experience

At Gubra, we believe that sharing knowledge is key to success. Therefore, you will be part of a team where collaboration and the willingness to share early-stage ideas are essential. We promise that you will learn from us, and we are looking forward to learning from you.

We are open to any levels of experience if you are motivated. Your qualifications could include:

  • A master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data processing libraries.
  • Experience applying data science and statistics to solve real problems

Desirable qualifications

You do not necessarily need to have these qualifications, but we hope you are willing to learn, because you will use them actively in this position:

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and containerization
  • Experience with MLOps, including model monitoring, reproducibility, and data management
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid infrastructure
  • Motivation to learn about the biotech industry
  • Motivation to develop competencies in generative AI

Software and AI Solutions – your new Team

You will join 16 skilled data scientists and developers in the Software and AI Solutions department at Gubra HQ in Hørsholm, on the edge of Greater Copenhagen. The department focuses on developing advanced tools to support all aspects of our biotechnology and research business.

We work in an informal and inclusive environment. We like to share knowledge and help each other. We look forward to welcoming you to the team.

Contact and application

We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible, as we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis. Please upload your motivated cover letter, resume and relevant diplomas on our website no later than March 9, 2025.

If you have any questions, you are very welcome to contact Senior Department Manager, Casper Salinas at cgs@gubra.dk. If necessary, we will set up an additional call to ensure your understanding of the job and your many opportunities.

We look forward to receiving your application.

About Gubra

Gubra is an ambitious contract research organisation (CRO) and biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to achieve the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a healthier and more sustainable world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.

Gubra’s activities are focused on the early stages of drug development and are organised in two highly synergistic business areas: CRO Services and Discovery & Partnerships (D&P). We generate our revenue by performing research for life science companies as well as by partnering projects from our discovery and development pipeline.

Our therapeutic focus is within metabolic and fibrotic diseases, and we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, ex vivo assays, drug profiling, histology, stereology and whole brain and organ imaging. In addition, we offer a full palette of advanced transcriptomics. Our ML/AI-driven peptide drug discovery platform streaMLine enables us to rapidly develop a peptide hit into a non-clinical candidate ready for development. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.

People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of +260 employees all located in Hørsholm, Denmark. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by entrepreneurial drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
