Laboratory Technician for Peptide chemistry

Gubra is looking for a Laboratory Technician to support our peptide drug discovery pipeline as well as advanced contract research assignments.

Gubra is an ambitious biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight against the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.

The Peptide Chemistry group primarily supports the Gubra drug discovery projects and is closely involved in the fine-tuning and optimization of peptide synthesis, and in ensuring that the high throughput solid phase peptide synthesis lab at Gubra is running optimally. At Gubra, the Peptide Chemistry group is also responsible for the purification and characterization of these peptides and associated metabolites as well as for peptide bioanalysis. All lab technicians work with all scientists and with all processes. In this way, everybody helps advance the individual peptide projects. The group is part of a functional area comprising also molecular pharmacology, pharmaceutical profiling, and formulation, biomarker, and next generation sequencing competences.

You have a flair and interest for automated peptide synthesizers and purification. You are a team-player, self-motivated, willing to learn new things, and can navigate and collaborate in an energetic organization. At Gubra, we strongly believe in advancing science by continuously testing our hypotheses - not on paper but in the lab. As a laboratory technician in our Peptide Chemistry group, you are supporting this vision by taking ownership for the collaborative environment in the group and constantly striving for the delivery of high-quality peptides and data.

Your tasks as Laboratory Technician are varied but include

  • Working with automated solid-phase peptide-synthesis (SPPS) synthesizers.

  • Smart-lab: working with our computational biologists and other lab technicians and scientists in and outside your group to locate repetitive work processes that can be optimized or automated.

  • Purification of peptides by RP-HPLC.

  • Characterization and analysis of peptides by UPLC-MS.

  • Data processing and documentation.

Professional qualifications

  • You hold a certified laboratory technician diploma or similar.

  • You have a genuine interest in peptide synthesis, purification, and analysis.

  • You have experience with peptide synthesis or in the fields of organic chemistry or protein conjugation chemistry.

  • You have solid work experience and good technical knowledge within HPLC purification.

  • You have knowledge within automated synthesis equipment and solid-phase synthesis.

  • Preferably experience with mass spectrometry (ESI-MS).

  • You have skills within data handling and reporting of data.

  • You have good communication skills in both Danish and English.

Personal qualifications

  • You are a true team player and eager to contribute to all workflows in the group.

  • Keen to take on responsibility within your area of expertise.

  • Curious by nature, motivated by data and not afraid of technical challenges.

  • Proactive and able to initiate, focus and deliver on tasks and projects.

  • Able to navigate and collaborate in an energetic and rapidly changing organization.

Please apply no later than March 18, 2021 by uploading your motivated cover letter and resume on our website.

About Gubra
Gubra is a company with a very dynamic and fast-paced drive. We have two primary areas of business: Preclinical contract research (CRO) services, and Proprietary early target and drug discovery programs.
We are a biotech company delivering science to our partners and to our own research projects. We are active in the so-called pre-clinical space - before drugs are tested in humans - and generate a revenue by performing research for small and large pharma companies.
Our focus is within the metabolic space (obesity, diabetes, NASH, and diabetic complications), where we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, peptide chemistry, molecular pharmacology, histology, stereology, imaging, NGS (next generation sequencing), bioinformatics and assays. We work with some of the most interesting and loyal partners and customers from across the world within big pharma, biotech, and academia. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.
People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of +150 employees all located in Hørsholm, Denmark.
