We are looking for a new colleague specialised in histology to join our highly skilled Tissue Research department.
Gubra is an ambitious biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We focus on doing things efficiently and with high quality – often in new innovative ways - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a healthier and more sustainable world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicines, and by acting and inspiring others to fight against the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.
The Tissue Research department supports our contract research services (CRO) as well as our early target and drug discovery programs by conducting a broad variety of histological analyses. Our focus is on the metabolic science field within obesity, CNS, NASH, diabetes, and diabetic complications related to the kidneys and cardiovascular system.
You are a histologist with experience in preclinical research. A background within the metabolic research area with focus on fibrosis is preferred. You have hands-on experience with general histological methodologies (tissue processing, histochemical staining, etc.) as well as in depth histological knowledge – preferably within fibrosis. Experience with quantitative image analysis, stereological methods and/or AI (machine learning / deep learning) is an advantage.
You are driven by teamwork and cross-functional collaboration to solve challenging research tasks in our dynamic and energetic organization. At Gubra, we strongly believe in advancing science by continuously testing our hypotheses and trying to answer scientific questions by conducting studies for both our CRO customers and our internal research projects. As a histological specialist in our Tissue Research department, you are supporting this vision by taking ownership of the given responsibilities and tasks.
Your tasks as histologist include:
Plan and run histological studies including reporting and presentation.
Advice and guide our CRO customers and internal research projects to obtain the most qualifying study designs.
Run a variety of histological techniques and stainings with focus on fibrosis, including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization and multiplex immunofluorescence.
Conduct quantitative image analyses and stereological methods.
Work with and contribute to the development of deep learning app’s.
Contribute to the daily study logistics as well as automatizations in the lab.
Collaboration with scientists and technicians across the organization.
Professional and personal qualifications:
PhD in natural sciences like biology, human biology, biochemistry or similar.
Documented track-record of histological experience and preferably expert knowledge of fibrosis.
Curious by nature, motivated by data and not afraid of technical challenges.
Good communicator with great stakeholder management skills.
Able to navigate and collaborate in an energetic and rapidly changing organization.
Keen to take on responsibility within your area of expertise and like to share your knowledge.
Good planner and like to work with tight deadlines.
Please apply no later than October 24th 2021 by uploading your motivated cover letter and CV on our website. Please note, that we will evaluate applications on an ongoing basis.
If you have any questions about the position, please contact Erik Max Wulff, Senior Department manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
